Dear distinguished guests and my fellow members,
First, I'll pay my deeply appreciation and gratitude to all of you for attending Grand Installation Ceremony. It’s such a great honor to Grand and also to me.
Secondly, I wanna thank the Immediate President, Steve, and his officer team for their hardworking. Your role in the growth and development of Grand has been very significant. Allow me to use this occasion to thank you for all you have done to Grand. Thank you!
And I wanna thank my dear members for electing me as President for 2008-2009. Thank you for trusting me and for your constant support. Those always mean a lot to me. I am honored and humbled to stand here. Being the president of Grand will be a new milestone in my Toastmaters career! Just like the theme “Add colors to your life” which brought us by our honorable District Governor, Marian Hsiao. I really add a lot of colors to my life in the coming year. I felt a heavy burden of responsibility on my shoulders. Henceforward, I'll have to work harder to serve our members as well as this club. This is a big challenge for me but also another opportunity for me to learn more, gain more.
But you know what? Although the new position to me is a challenge, it is also a challenge to Grand. Why? Let me explain it! As a Grand Toastmaster, we all know a special term. It’s called “Liya’s barrier” Because our lovely member, Liya, had a wonderful and high-class wedding ceremony Last October. It set a high standard for all of our single members in Grand. Actually, our Immediate President, Steve, has also set the Steve’s barrier to me, because of his high-class English. Now, I also create another Carrie’s barrier. You know what it is? I am the youngest president of Grand, even younger than Grand itself. Now you see? This is really a big challenge to Grand. Do you regret for voting me? Ha ha! But don’t worry, I won’t let you down. With my dedicated officer team, I will work very hard to meet all your expectations.
Last but not least, allow me to use this privilege to express my appreciation to my family. They are here today to share the honor and happiness with me. Without their support and love, I wouldn’t stand here. Thank you! No, you’re not attending the Oscar Academy Award.
From now on, I will accept the challenge and promise to perform my duties to the best of my ability to be deserving of your trust. To achieve this mission, I also need the participation and dedication of all my dear members. Besides that, we got the excellent leadership and guidance of these Toastmasters pioneers, I believe that next year Toastmasters movement in Taiwan must have been growing continuously and successfully. And I hope that Grand will have another prosperous year, too!
