How dear is Formosa to my heart!

On that island the best of my years have been spent.

How dear is Formosa to my heart!

A lifetime of joy is centered here.

I love to look up to its lofty peaks, down into its yawning chasms,

and away out on its surging seas.

How willing I am to gaze upon these forever!

My heart's ties to Taiwan cannot be severed!

To that island I devote my life.

My heart's ties to Taiwan cannot be severed!

There I find my joy.

I should like to find a final resting place within sound of its

surf, and under the shade of its waving bamboo.

Words from Member

Spring is coming. Do you feel confused about the easy-changed weather? The old Chinese slang says: “Spring is just like the face of stepmother”, so that we should take care of the unstable mood of our mother. Beside of the weather, we should congratulate Erin and Piao-Piao get the ticket into the graduated school, hope they have great year to go.

Recently, I watched the movie “Iron Lady”, the movie depicts the first lady’s political life and the life attitude. The word I remembered the most she said was “Every single day in my life is fighting”. Meryl Steep portrayed the lady delicate. Even I am not the one in that political atmosphere, I could feel the determination she had. There are many movies talking about great women recently, just like “A simple life” and “The Lady”, are you ready to take a look?

l We are going to collect the second semi-annual membership due.

If you pay only semi-annual due, please bring you membership due to the meeting and give it to our treasurer Erin Ke. If you are not going to come in the next meeting, please contact Erin and remit the due to her.

Meeting Minutes (03/21):

The meeting of March 18 was very different from our regular meeting.

We held the area H1 speech contest which allowed more members to experience speeches from other clubs. Our area governor, Erin invited judges from other clubs. We were touched by a guest from Canadian toastmasters club, Janice, stretched her hands to be one of the judges. The last minute's support helped us run the contest smoothly. All members have witnessed the speech delivery ways of four speakers from MOFA. Helen, Yvan, May and Yolanda were the contestants for Grand. The more contests the members are involved, the more the contestants may learn. All the contestants are winners.
