Up there and down there

Consecutive weekends, I've been through from up there to down there. Yes, I was being a contestant and a judge, two opposite position across the spectrum. And these experiences incre
ase my awareness of sympathy in terms of feeling or thinking in different perspectives. There are three parts I sect for a speech: the speech itself, the mental status, and the appearance. With the interchange view of judge and contestant, I learned that the speech itself requires more peer review. Too often, I work alone and lead the speech to where only I know the parameter and else does not, ironically the purpose of a speech is to be understandable from and for others. As to the mental status, judges do not care if a contestant is really nervous or not, as long as the contestant shows no sign of it. Therefore act like not nervous and gradually it will be comfortable while standing up there. And speaking of appearance, judge does care the consistency between the appearance and the speech. A professional talk goes with the official dress, like suits, and humorous speech has the relevant dress. I am going to utilize these findings in my future speech. And hope they may help you when you are delivering your speeches.
